Try lemmon, or even better apple cider vinegar should get the pain out. Also see if plain olive oil works for you.

I wouldn't suggest the regular medicines, as they always have side effects. Tea sweetened with honey works wonders on sore throats, as well as ordinary colds.

Lozenges with zinc.

I have not had a sore throat for over ten years since hearing about these from a orthopedic MD that I worked for.

They taste kinda bad but work great.

The sprays like Ceprecol they sell at the drug store are fairly good. The longzes don't work nearly as well as the spray. I always have some handy.

However the best thing to do is to take sore throats seriously by looking after your overall health. Get lots of rest and drink lots of fluids. Your body is fighting an infection and sore throats are a lot more serious than people think. If you can, take a day off and get a lot of rest, drink warm drinks and gargle with the salt and water. That's really the best. The Cepracol helps cover the pain, but only rest and fluids will get rid of the cause.

Use Vick's Chloraseptic Spray...Its great and only like $5.00 for a bottle @ a drug store or Pharmacy.(DON'T PURCHASE ETHE STORE BRAND, ITS WEAK)

You need to gargle with salted water as hot as you can stand it (without burning yourself). You have bacteria in your throat and the salt & heat will kill it and sooth your throat. In addition to that you most likely have post nasal drip from your sinus' being cloged and stuff running down your throat. I would suggest some decongestants to clear that up and a neti pot if you can find one (ancient system of nasal irigation). To stop the pain you can mix mylanta liquid with liquid benadryl & gargle that... it will sooth and make it numb. But that should only be temporary because you need to kill the bacteria and cure the problem not just treat the symptom. Hope you feel better!
