A nervous situation.

could be the food she eats.too much salt.

a sudden spike, all by itself, doesn't mean much of anything really.....further testing is indicated, and certainly a series of blood pressures to ascertain whether or not it was a solitary spike, or if the pressure is remaining elevated. Just the blood pressure standing alone, simply isn't enough information to make any kind of diagnosis, or even guess at a possible cause.

has she been in pain, drinking too much coffee, smoking?

Hormones, even after menopause we have them.
Foods. Allergy developing. And I believe some infections/ diseases. I am not a doctor.

But if she is healthy, why is she taking her BP at home?
