I just saw my dog throw up and i felt the urge to puke too. why would my body do this?

I think its purely psychological. you puke because you have something in your system that u body needs to remove. so when u see puke/ smell nastiness it your brain fooling your body into think that theres something internal wrong. sorta like how yawning is contagious.
