Blood in stool?!?!

Question: About 30 minutes to an hour ago, I was having some stomach discomfort and gas. It eventually went away. But about 30 minutes later, I was running to the bathroom with "the runs" or runny stool. When I wiped i noticed there was a bit of blood, and the water was tented a little. It wasn't like A LOT of blood, but not just a little drop. i thought the symptoms that led up to it were weird. I've been fine/felt fine all day. I thought maybe it was my dinner (I had chicken). I was just wondering if anyone knew what I should do as in keeping an eye out on it, or taking some tums or something. Thanks!

You should consult your doctor if it continues. Unless it is severe, I don't think it should be something to panic over right away. You could possibly have hemorrhoids or a number of things. If it does continue then I would seek medical advice because it could eventually affect your blood levels.

If it is red then it might be a fissure(scratch) of the intestinal wall near your rectum. If this is the case then you should eat fiber (fruits and veggies) while staying away from nuts and cheeses that may constipate you. This should allow the scratch to heal. IF the stool is black then you have digested the blood further up the line. You may want to go to the doctor to see if need a colonoscopy.

Well blood in your stool is nothing to take lightly. You should continue to watch it... one of the side effects of Anti inflammatories is to have blood in the stool and anal seepage. usual need to stop taking the med that caused it... good health and good luck

You might have UC, but I doubt it if this is the first time it happened.

If you are feeling sick, and bloody diarrhea, vomiting (since you had chicken) you could have food poisoning. just be very careful , any signs of this, go to a doc immediately. it may be salmonella.
