Is being left or right handed inherited or genetic?!
Question: There are quite a few people in my family that are left-handed, but they are ALL on my maternal grandmothers side, my son is left-handed, my husband and myself are both right. Just curious. ( our daughter is right-handed )
Our son showed a preferance for his left hand as an infant. It was hard to teach him simple things like tieing his shoelaces, holding eating utensils correctly, etc.
It really is a right-handed world.

The gene most closely linked to left-handedness has been found, experts announced this week.
The gene, called LRRTM1, is also associated with a slight increase in developing certain mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.
