Car Accident + Headache?!

Question: I just got in a car accident eariler today and totalled my car. Iv been so stressed, crying for hours, and have had the hugest migrane. The only injury I have is a bruise on my knee. I didnt go to the hospital and my head is pounding right now. Im assuming its because of the stress (I live in a totally different state from family and friends, my husband is deployed, and I didnt have collision insurance). I want to try to fall asleep and see how I feel in the morning but my mother-in-law said I might have internal bleeding in my head and I might not wake up if I go to sleep. Do you think its true? Calling 911 to go to the hospital is ganna be expensive and I dont really know anyone who would take me to the hospital on base. Should I take a cab or do you think I will be fine?

I am sorry to hear about your misfortune...terrible situation.. But, first & foremost, please know getting medical advice out here is not the best thing to do...so PLEASE try to seek out proper medical guidance...I will however, give some basic advice the best to my ability which is extremely limited our here, without more specifics & without being able to personally assess you...I think a BIG part of your problem is of course/rightly so, from stress & upset.Your extenuationg factors adds to that...having nobody close by...One IMPORTANT thing to know here is>>> Did you hiy your head during the accident at any time?? Very important...But please don't let fear be part of the problem, nor worry...being calm & collective will help alot! Secondly, you should have been checked out medically after being in an auto accident...whiplash alone is famous for sneaking up later on & can cause HORRIBLE problems[I know,Isyuffered...I sitll do 30years later], so that is a very serious factor. As far as the bleeding in your head, I am thinking your mother-in-law was referring to a possible concussion, NO BLEEDING with that, BUT a big headache possible, nausea/vomiting, dilated pupils or uneven pupil reaction, are a few signs of possible concussion; head injury really requires 24 hour observation which is probably where your mother-in-law was coming from...place some ice to the back of your neck, cool rag on your forehead for awhile...use frozen peas for an ice pack if you haven't anything...at least it will help your pounding headache...take an OTC pain reliever, but be sure to keep track of what you have taken & when...at least this may help ease your discomfort, Motrin/Ibuprophen/Advil/ whatever you usually take & tolerate well, make a nice warm cup of chammomille tea/or sleepytime Tea to help you relax, prop your feet up in a comfy recliner chair...have phone close by;
If I knew your specifics better; I could advise more accurately, but even still, that is NOT good enough, nor ahould it be! Can you maybe call a nearby medical center, like a walk in clinic for advice? Or how about a local pharmacist? Or why not look at the accident report, call the police department number & seek advice, tell you are alone. worried, not feeling well...You have no friend you could stay with over night? What about calling a nearby aquaintance on base? Surely there is medical assistance or help-lines on base?? Isn't there? What about calling the local hospital, isn't there a dial a nurse number 24/7, we have them available & they list help numbers in the telephone books...we even have a number (211) for help/assistance...Please try to speak to someone medically knowledgeable...You may indeed be fine, but then again, tomorrow will surely begin to tell your body whether you will feel as if you have been run over by a truck...I hope you are fine, but try to relax, seek out a friend...what about a medic on base?? Surely you have something available to you on base...I am sorry I can;t help...take care~

Why on earth didn't you go to the hospital?! If you have a real friend, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for them to take you to the ER. You could end up with severe head trauma if you just leave your migrane untreated. T ake a cab if you must.

Good luck and sorry about your accident!

Did you hit your head? If not, then you don't have internal bleeding in your head. Your mother-in-law is a muppet.

(If you *did* hit your head, you should already have seen a doctor. Go now.)

If you've been stressing about your accident and crying for hours, that's enough to give anyone a terrible headache. Honestly. Call your doctor if you're worried, but otherwise, lie down and go to sleep.

internal bleeding in head + hemorrhaging =DEATH most is stress and your body out of alignment LIKE neck!!!

You might wanna go to the er.

Sorry to hear about your accident. If you have auto insurance, check to see if you have medical coverage that will pay for ambulance.

Go to ER within 24 hours of accident. You may have a whiplash injury.

Do you live in a "no fault" state? Was the accident your fault?
The other party may be responsible for your expenses.
Take a cab & keep receipt.

For legal purposes, keep a diary of pain, feelings, upset, bruises, all expenses, transportation to & from MDs, pharmacy, physical therapy, etc. Keep receipts.

Sorry if I sound heartless, but I once had an accident where someone went into me & a friend told me to do above. It took 3 years for it to go to court...I was just looking to cover my costs...it's good I had the diary because I didn't remember all the pain & suffering, effects of meds, etc.

Pls get yourself checked out. You may end up feeling more sore or having new symptoms in the days to come.

Sorry about your car.

Bless you and your husband
