Light skin and the sun?!

Question: I have an extremely light skin tone. To give you an example, I can't buy most make up brands because they don't make a foundation light enough to match my skin color.

I am very conscious about my fair complexion and the dangers being out in the sun unprotected can pose. I would, however, like to add a little color to my skin. I absolutely will not go to a tanning bed because the risk of skin cancer is just too high for me.

If I wear a relatively high level sunscreen at the beach, will I still be able to pick up a little color without burning?

Yes. Unless you use a full-spectrum SPF you will still get some color; however, if you don't protect against UVA it will age your skin prematurely (early wrinkles). You can't have it both ways, tan and wrinkle free, without sunless tanner. Too bad the sunless tanner still turns people really funny colors. Don't worry about your pale skin--healthy skin is beautiful in any color; look at Nicole Kidman and Scarlett Johansen.

Yes you will pick up some color, just don't abuse much of the sun since the effects wont show right away...could be dangerous later on the years if you're too pale. The stronger the sun-tan lotion is, obviously the risk would be less, good luck.

Not a good idea to expose your self excessively to Sun, better wear light color pure cotton clothes, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure
