See a doctor about it to make sure there isn't a real big problem. My brother complained of heartburn but wouldn't go to the dr. He ended up almost dying due to a rupture that was slowly bleeding him to death. But if you want to take your chances, I have tried all the prescriptions and still get the best results with store brand acid reducers. They're usually ranitidine or famotidine.

then you need a proton pump inhibitor, a medication that reduces the amount of acids your stomach makes. There are many, like tagamet, zantac, prilosec, for otc, and there are stronger ones your doctor can prescribe.

gaviscon is really good, but the doctor can prescribe something called lansoprazole

I notice when I sleep on my right side it dont effect me.

I went thru pain for the longest time then I went to the doctor they told me to get Zantac 150mg.

and that cleared it up.

The chalky meds dont work for a long time. But, when I took the zantac 150 i felt normal again.

Try the zantac. and sleep on ur right side /

pepsi, that's where they got pepsid ac from or you could take a pepsid

what works for me is 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda mixed with a FULL glass of water, tastes awful but will make even the most stubborn heartburn disappear!

try one teaspoon of cider vinegar in a glass of water for about one week . I'm told you just drink a little before bedtime and you should never have the problem again. In the meantime, when you lay down prop a pillow under you so that your uppper torso is slightly up.Like half way sitting up. Don't eat or drink for at least a half hour before bed.(just sip the cider water.and let it work) you'll burp and release pressure
Feel Better.......
