Is inhaling helium in order to give yourself a squeaky voice dangerous?!

Question: I've always wanted to try that, but I don't know if it's unhealthy or not.

Answers: I've always wanted to try that, but I don't know if it's unhealthy or not.

Yes because helium can displace oxygen in your lungs since its lighter thatn oxygen. It can result in death. For those who doubt its deadly effects.

A lungfull or two isn't going to hurt you, as long as you're not breathing Helium exclusively.
Helium is a 'nobel' element which does not react with anything so it can't do your body any harm.
That being said, if you were breathing nothing but pure helium, you would eventually asphixiate due to lack of oxygen to the brain. So just remember to take some normal breaths between your squeaky voiced-fun & you'll be just fine.

Coming straight from my AP physics teacher, inhaling helium will not kill you.

I don't believe there is proof that your blood vessels actually intake helium into the blood stream, it simply goes in, then back out as you exhale.

It is potentially dangerous though, but not because of the helium, it's due to you not getting actual oxygen.

I don't believe there has been any case of someone actually dieing by inhaling helium - the worst thing that could probably happen to you would be you getting light headed due to shortage of oxygen.
