Your opinions on a contraversial life and death issue?!

Question: We take our animals to the vet when they are old or very sick and have them put down to ease their suffering and its concidered humane. Pets can be a very important part of our families and can we cry over the loss of a devoted and loyal family pet. But when we have to put them down we are doing the best thing we can possibly do for them.

yet

When a family member is dying of cancer or some sort of disease that makes them miserable and live in a great deal of pain we dope them with drugs that leave them unresponsive, or barely takes the edge off the pain, drags out the inevitable and creates a life time of debt. Dr. Kevorkian tried to give people living in that situation a choice. When the sick die we mourn their loss and say they are finally at peace and it is gods will. Was it gods will that they suffer so badly? I don't think they are going to hell if they choose death because life became hell for them. I wouldn't want to suffer like that or make my family suffer either.

I agree with you. And many do not realize that he did not just help any one. There were many steps which were taken. They were evaluated by medical doctors and psychiatrists before a definite decision was made.

Even with all our love for animals, we still value the life of a human in a much different way than an animal.

I wouldn't want to chose to have my cancerous father put to sleep when he's still capable of accomplishing so much more. My father is going to keep kicking for several more years, maybe.

I wouldn't have that much love for my 2 year old cat, sorry.

You know what, if a person wants to die I believe they have that right. It is THEIR life and if they are in excruciating pain who am I to say "no, you have to live with it." I am a Christian and I believe everyone has to make their own decisions. That is why God gave us free will. Just because one person might strongly oppose it does not give them the right to make that kind of decision for someone else.

I think it should be left up to the individual. Everyone should get a living will of their wishes, because when they are unable to make the decision for themselves, it becomes a mess. Should a third wife decide over the kids? Should a husband decide over the parents? Each family structure is diffferent.

You mentioned God in your answer, and the bible is pretty clear on the issue, for whatever that is worth.

You have to understand God did not create this disease Satan did. He created the pain and suffering. Yes it s wrong to take your life because God is the only one who has your life plan. Yes we put animals down because they do not have a soul. They can not truly tell us if they are in pain. We as humans have to rely on science and the looks on their faces. They have no heaven or hell to go to. They do not have children watching their every move.

Besides did you ever think that some of the people that wanted to die may truly not have a disease. They maybe having a bad day and just want to end it. Or and I know this is a stretch but the Dr's might be wrong.

Sorry I do not see suicide as the way to go.

i think that it should be allowed and agree with if, but only if it in the own persons choice and the necessary checks are taken to make sure they are physicaly and mentaly able to make choice for themselves, or if the choice had to be made by somebody else i think it should be possible but only under serious circumstances

You have a good point. This issue is brought about by people who think that the right to choose to die may be abused by some for financial gain.
