Is it safe to drink water thats been boiled in a plastic bottle over a fire?!

Question: Not really, I wouldn't unless I absolutely had to. Most plastic bottles (and pretty much any plastic that is clear or hard) contains Bisphenol A, this leaches into food/water ESPECIALLY WHEN HEATED, which is why you should stop heating food in plastic with a plastic wrap immediately, I dont even use plastic bottles anymore. It was originaly created as a estrogen supplement for women but then they found when they bond it with plastic it becomes clear and glass like. It is unnfortunately found in most canned foods also, especially tomatoe products. Studies suggest that BPA is linked to a staggering number of health problems, including prostate and breast cancer, obesity, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, brain damage, immune suppression, lowered sperm counts and early puberty. The plastics industry maintains that BPA is completely safe. But academic and government researchers say the chemical needs to undergo a new risk assessment. Previous assessments were done more than 15 years ago, when the technology to screen for health risks was immature. Most of the research pointing to its potential for harm has come out in the past five years.

Yes that is safe. Boiling water like that kills most of the bacteria that was in the water. ;)

how in the world did you manage to do that?

BOILED in a PLASTIC BOTTLE?

That is soooooome STRONG Plastic!

I'd say, NO.

How do you boil water in a plastic bottle over a fire. Wouldn't you just get a melted plastic bottle.

Why would you drink boiled water? Have you not got Cold water anywhere?

I would hope not. it doesnt sound safe so dont even try it unless your stranded and you absolutly have to have water, but i highly doubt that ever happening.

is the plastic melting at all?

uhmmm? You have skill to do that. And i'd think so, but i really don't know. I must say that I've never come across a situation like that before:)
