What was going on?!

Question: Ok, during late summer early fall I developed a bad sore throat with swollen upper neck. I found I had white spots on the back of my throat and I was able to pull them off and they smelled horrible! Well I went to the doc anyway and although he said it was red he tested me for strep which came back negative. He said they would go away and they eventually did. At the same time I had a canker sore. It took about a week and a half to go away and it has not returned since. I also developed a rash within this time frame that was a bit itchy but not too bothersome. It was rough to the touch and on my upper chest. This also went away and has not come back. What was this?
