You can safely take 1 or 2 gm of vitamin C per day or even 3 gm a day.
The Vitamin C Foundation actually recommends 3 gm a day but most health experts recommend a lot less.
The late Dr linus Pauling, who won two Nobel prizes for contributions to health and medicine, actually recommended 5 gm per day but he was obsessed with vitamin C.
Too much vitamin C can cause kidney stones and it is also a diuretic. More vitamin C also helps to absorb more iron.
From what I have read about Vitamin C, the dose you're taking is fine, 500mg to 1000mg is supposed to be okay. I have not heard of it causing kidney stones, but 1000mg or more everyday can cause diarrhea.
Vitamin C will cause stones in someone who is prone to getting them anyway. If you have never had a stone, you needn't worry about that. As far as vitamin C goes. The amount you are taking is fine. You don't say how old you are, or your body type, but I know you can give a young child that much and it wont harm them. You could add more to it without a problem. You will get it naturally from fruits and vegetables. Or you could take Airborn everyday for a while. You just shouldn't take too much Airborn, because of the OTHER vitamins in it. Once a day is plenty to get through the cold and flu season. Just use reason. I mean don't pop them all day long, but you can pretty much take as much as you want safely.
