Can I give blood?!

Question: I've been living in Germany since 2004 and before that, in the United States.

Before the United States, I lived in Germany again, until moving to the U.S in 1999.

I understand that there are certain rules regarding giving blood.

Since my blood would be going to American Troops, I'd have to know the American Rules.

I understand there was something saying that if a person lived in Europe for x number of years, then they can't give blood in the United States.

Truth?

Yes, there is some truth to that. You could be exposed to a virus over in europe that we dont have a vaccine for. like if you were exposed to something, you may not HAVE the virus but you culd have been exposed to it, which could in turn expose the person you donate blood to.

You can go into donate blood and they will tell you if you are elligable. Its a great way to help save a life!!
