Valium - usage, effects, cautions?!
Question: The day I get my braces off I plan to take a Valium. I will probably be able to get one from my doctor. This is a ways off and I will of course be talking to her when the time comes but I want to do some research ahead of time.
And rather than digging through google results, I'd like to either get known good links or hear from people who have taken it.
How is Valium meant to be used? Like how long before the dreaded event do you take it? What effects does it typically have? What gotchas should I know, like do you have to avoid certain foods or eating in general for X hours before/after?
Stuff like that. Just something to get me started.
(I know it won't hurt - I just get tense because it's so noisy removing ceramic brackets and all the glue grinding that ensues. I'll also wear headphones but I want to cover all my bases).

Definitely go to www.WebMd.com an excellent site for medical answers! Awesome site to do research within & leads towards other avenues as well!! Medications are accurately defined there too, as well as adverse reactions & expected results...Check it out, I promise you will be glad you did!
Valium of course is a tranquilizer/depressant it is widely used for various reasons...often times it is given before medical procedures; like MRI's, for people who fear the closed atmosphere(Claustrophobia), for those who are going for surgery they give Valium approximately 1/2hr to 45mins before heading the patient down to the OR. Valium is administered in various dosages 2mg to 30 mg as an average range...Usually 10mg being the most common dose, which can be increased easily by taking two(20mg) if an individual really requires sedation via a calmative/depressant. You should go to WebMd.com it will satisfy your wonders!!! Eating doesn't effect the Valiums performance but having food in your tummy will keep your tummy happy. It is OK that you don't feel comfy with the sounds you described when the Orthodontist does his thing! No big deal, like you sad, but the sounds can be irritating & cause undue apprenhension...Good luck~ Take care~ You will be thrilled having straight teeth & no more hardware huh??! Yep, indeed!
Excellent point to mention the grapefruit juice! Good for you...Take it easy, it will be over before you know it! Glad to help!Thanx for the best answer choice~ Report It
