Why do people have six fingers??!
Question: I was wondering why people have six fingers because it is passed on in my family. My dad has it, me and my sister have it, and our kids have it. I was just wanting to know the history of it, and do alot of people have it?

It happens ... your family probably carries the genes for "polydactalism" - which gives you "extra fingers" on your hands (and extra toes on your feet)
It occurs in about 0.2% of the population
It's just a gene that runs in your family, like red hair, blue eyes, pointy chins etc run in other families.
The way genes work is NOT "piece-by-piece" to build you. There are controller genes that shut other genes off and on, too.
So, your family has a mutation in the digits gene that says "Go: make six." rather than "Go: make five" -- and that gene is getting passed down through the generations.
As another answer said, it's like blue eyes, which are also a mutation (default color is brown, which most humans have).
