Thrash? is it contagious?!

Question: I babysit a child who was home sick for a week with flu like symptoms. The child was brought in today for care, and the mom told me not to expect him to eat much because his mouth hurts from the thrash, she also said I might notice white around his lips, and bad breath. Should I be concerned for the other children in my care? Can adults get it?

I think you mean thrush. It's an oral yeast infection. It's not very contagious, but avoid oral-oral contamination routes.

No, only kids get that.

It's not "thrash"! It's "thrush"! And yes, adults can get it!

it's pronounced thrush, yes it is contagious and painfull, you should still push liquids (not milk)

I like to thrash. Thrash rocks!

YES!!!! It is HIGHLY contagious. It is essentially like a yeast infection in the mouth. The clhild should be on medication (yellow liquid that gets applied to the tongue and insides of cheeks).

You will need to sterilize EVERYTHING that the kids play with and put their mouths on. Plastic toys need to be boiled, and fabric toys to be washed. It is not fun dealing with this sort of thing....take care as your other kids can get it. Most common in young kids though 1 - 3 yrs old.

It is contagious, but not airborne. Just don't allow sharing of cups or any of his saliva touching someone. Also make sure to push fluids. Oh and yes adults can get it to.

yes adults can get it but it is common on kids
