Yes in fact I did! A friend I was in the service with a zillion years ago had caught Cancer of the throat and tongue from smoking. They removed half of his tongue, and he had the Threch-Tube in his neck afterwords, But he never gave up them smokes! I swear I tried everything to help him quit, But he wouldn't listen. He would just say, and I quote, "Ain't No-One Leaving Here Alive Anyways" end quote. He was just determined to choose the way he was going to Die I suppose. It did kill him 4 years after having several surgeries to cut the cancer out of him. After the 3rd year, They gave up on it because by then, his whole body was eaten up by it. Shame. That man sure did suffer allot, I can tell you that! Your right, It seems like someone would quit after having gone through all that you know it? Guess he really just didn't care? He's gone now anyways, But he sure chose a helluva way to go that's for sure! I'll take old-age any day over something like that! Hope this answered your question, Take Care
Yep. I knew a WW II veteran with a tracheostomy that did that for years. Died of lung cancer.
