How is it possible, that so much blood comes from something the size of a peanut!

Question: it makes no sense!

Answers: it makes no sense!

period blood is not just from the egg, it is the wall of your womb detaching, which makes up most of the blood

it is not all blood

lol...it doesnt come out all togetha at one time

It's not blood, it's menstrual lining; and the uterus is bigger than a peanut.

Apart from the fact that it is not all blood, it builds up in the tubes that connect, and then drain from there.

Because its mostly not blood. Blood just colors a whole lot of mucus and some uterine tissue that sheds. Besides, your uterus is a little bigger than a peanut.

its worse when its heavy.i feel for all of yous.

Because it's not the size of a peanut...it's the size of a pear &.....as I think someone else said....it's not blood. It's the lining of your womb & the egg(s) you didn't need this month.

Um....you might want to also review your last comment about the size of the egg because it's just proving a point.

A human 'egg' most definately not the size of a peanut. An elephant's egg is not the size of a peanut!!! Good god woman...LOL!

OMG! I'm scared by these answers! Your egg is the sixe of a pin head, your uterus is the size of an apple core. The uterus lining thickens each month ready for the fertalised egg to implant into. If this does not happen then the lining comes away. and as it comes away it leaves blood vessels exposed which is the bleeding. so some is the lining and the rest is just blood. It varies from woman to woman as to how much there is. If you feel that your periods are too heavy then see a Doctor. Tranexamic acid makes you periods lighter but the effects can be short lived. The combined pill may make them lighter too.
Hope this helps

Because it not just the egg that comes out the wall and lining comes away aswell

the egg is the size of a full stop in a book apparently which makes it even more mind boggling!
