What are some ways to make a really bad nose bleed stop?!

Question: Other than pinching my nose I find that it does nothing. Also what are some good ways to prevent getting nose bleeds in the first place?

The best thing to do is tilt your head forward so the blood doesn't go down the back of your throat, then apply firm pressure to the bleeding nostril, for at least 10 minutes (don't peek). continue to apply pressure. Sometimes it can take 20 minutes or so... Don't blow out the clot, and don't blow your nose for at least 24 hours. You can try a cool cloth on the back of your neck to divert the blood flow, or I've heard dropping keys on the back of your neck helps(?)
To prevent getting nosebleeds, try using a humidifer, or applying a moisturizing nasal gel such as Rhinaris.... could be your nose is very dry. If you are having constant, severe nosebleeds you should see your doctor.

Try using a humidifier in your room when you sleep - that can definitely help nosebleeds in the first place. As for a bad nosebleed - try pinching the area between your eyes along with the area just under the bone in your nose and hold your head back - this has always helped my seasonal nosebleeds.

Put your head down towards your knees.
Also you can try holding an ice-pack over your nose too.

Pressure to the nostrils, ice or cool to the nostrils and the back of the neck. The ER or an ear nose throat specialist may help you by placing a packing to put pressure inside of the nostril. If there is a vessel that they can see sometimes they can cauterize it (don't try this at home please.)

A number of different things cause nosebleeds including medications such as nasal decongestant sprays or tablets, aspirin, and naproxen. The vessels of the nose can be fragile so a thin layer of petroleum jelly or use of a nasal saline solution may help. Keep the humidity higher in your environment. When you blow your nose, blow gently,
