I can't stop smoking weed. I want to quit but all my friends do it and I als!

Question: It's especially harder because its a great social activity. But I've smoked heavily for the past 5 years (I'm almost 20) and it's taking a major toll on my life/ health. Everytime I try to quit, I always talk my self back into smoking again. Any suggestions? Narcotics Annonymous?

If you want to quit and stay clean:
1) Go to treatment and/or NA/
2) Get new friends (sorry but you will not stay clea with your current ones)
3) Hang out at new places where pot is not around. MOST people do not do drugs.

DO this not before you hit a bottom. You could fail to get a job. If you have a car accident on pot, it could mean jail.

You CAN have fun clean and sober.

I have 1345 days clean and sober. Saved my life. And by the grace of God and the people in AA I am sober today.

get new friends who don't smoke

slap ur self 5 times or more and dont hang around with your "smoking weed friends" BAD INFLUENCE

umm dont be the dumb one and get ur life messed up plz dont

you r going to die if you don't stop.

buy a double chamber water pipe. it purifies the smoke doing less damage to your lungs. At least for me.

Just quit. The hell with what your friends say about it. While you clean yourself up to get a good job and live life, they will still be living at home with mommy and daddy getting high. Be a leader, not a follower.

maybe you should go to a hospital sometime and go to the lung cancer unit or the emphysema floor. that will make you quit for sure. come to work with me for just one day. You'll never put another one of those nasty things in your mouth again.

and yes, NA is a good idea.

I knew someone who smoked it only a couple times a day. She got throat cancer and I watched her die. That might help you a little; it helped me.

I have many relitaves who were stuck in this situation before.

It was afffecting my uncle and grandfather. Badly.
When my grandfather got a heart attack, he and my uncle made a deal that if one stopped smoking, the other had to stop.
And that stopped (totaling both their years of smoking) 50 years of smoking.

You have to make a deal with your friends that you'll stop if they stop.

check local listenings for Narcotics Anonmyous, or Alcoholics Anonymous. its a life saver, i;ve been sober for 7 months on the 13th. work the program there and be honest.

If you have smoked for 5 years, it will take a while to stop. It is a habit. Figure our why you talk yourself into smoking again. If it is the people you hangout with, then you have to find new friends. If it is because you get bored, you have to find ways to keep yourself busy. Brain-wash yourself. Tell yourself all day long "I don't want to smoke weed." , "I don't like the feeling I get when I smoke weed.", "Weed is ruining my life." etc. Eventually you will get far enough away from it that you won't go back. Good luck.

First step is to (and I recognize you won't want to do this, but it's necessary) distance yourself from the friends you know who smoke weed. The reasoning is that if you're not around it all the time, you won't want it...and you want to do something specific to change yourself for the better. next step, if you're interested, try narcotics anonymous. It's a start. they'll give you some tips on how to stay off weed. The whole program is entirely voluntary, so if you want to stay, great...they'll welcome you. If not, then that's your decision too.

It sounds like you can't do this on your own. Try calling your local hospital and see if they offer rehab program for this. And, I agree with the other person who suggested to get friends who DO NOT smoke weed. If you hang out with friends who do this, you will never be able to kick it. It may be tough to walk away from them, but let's face it, it is probably the only thing you guys have in common anyway. Make today a turning point in your life: Get an appointment at rehab, go see your physician about your health, drop your old friends who are going nowhere and taking you with them. Pray to God for strength and healing, He will give it to you. Best wishes.

Get some new friends to start with. also go get some help someone older try you Mother, father, aunt, uncle e.t.c. it don't have to be a family member. knowing that you need to stop is the first step not take some action.

Good luck

You don't have to get new friends. All you have to do is learn how to say "no thank you, maybe later" and of course later you say"no thanks, maybe later". Your friends will eventually come around to the fact that you don't want smoke it any more. It gets easier every time and my friends have stopped asking me if I want some. It just takes a little time for every one to catch on. Hang in there and keep saying "no thanks". You CAN do it. Believe in yourself. I did.

When you eventually come off it i heard you get bad withdrawal symptoms like paranoia and shakiness. Its also killing your brain cells so i heard you get forgetful too.. not sure if thats true. Its better to come off it now than to regret doing it so long when it actually has an effect on you in later years.
I know that it might be hard to stop.. just say no and try hard cause you will really regret it.
Good Luck! :)

Just realize that you'll feel so much better once you quit, at least until you can get things straightened out in your mind. It will be different not having a buzz all day, but you can accomplish more when you're not stuck in your room all day smoking pot. Like getting a job, meeting new people, getting work done, and thinking clearer. Don't think of it as being a quitter, just think of it as trying something new in your life, and tell yourself that you will feel better once you quit. And no, you won't DIE if you don't quit, no one's been proven to die directly from marijuana.

its obvious you know how to operate a computer, go to

na.org

find the link for meetings in your area and go to alot of them!

cut your using friends loose (dont worry-if you actually stay clean-they'll disappear anyway).

you can get clean and stay clean (i was your age when i put it down & now i have 25 years clean). life gets better & we guarantee to refund your misery if you dont like being clean!

A major toll? Like what, you can't remember where you parked your car?? You grew your hair out and never leave your mom's basement?? You have more bongs than friends??

Major toll from smoking weed...c'mon! It's not crack!!
