Has anyone ever had an Endoscopy done??!

Question: I am having one done in a few weeks. They told me they have this new IV sedation that puts me totally to sleep and I don't remember anything!! I am scared. Is it simple? Any side effects? I have anxiety problems anyway so no real bad horror stories please. :0)

Normally people are awake for an endoscopy. So if you are going to be asleep, your doctor has already taken into account your anxiety reaction. Don't worry. You'll wake up and not remember a thing. Your throat might be a little sore for a little while. No big deal...the nurse will have to make sure you are swallowing OK before you get anything to eat or drink. No big deal. Relax.

I have an endoscopy a couple of times and didn't wake up until I was in the recovery room. It was a piece of cake. Good Luck!

relax, I've had six endoscopies. They give you the medication, you drift off to sleep and wake up when it is over, no fuss, no muss, no pain.

Had one years ago reay nothing to it just try not to gag when swolling tube

They are the easiest thing I have ever done. They do an IV, give you Versed, and the next thing you know it is done and you can go home. Procedure itself takes about 15-20 minutes.

I have had several. The first one I did not like so on all of the others I just made sure the doctor knew to totally put me out before he started. Just communicate with your doctor and everything should be fine. Good luck!!
