Can't breathe and don't know what to do?!

Question: I believe I caught the flu last Friday. My nose constantly runs then it gets stuffed to the point that I can't breathe. I try blowing my nose but it doesn't clear my nose. It gets so bad that I have to put those Ephrine drops in my nose to clear up the congestion, and it seems to be the only thing that works. The bad thing is that it only lasts 1-2 hrs. so I have to keep putting drops in my nose. I'm afraid to do that because last night I had a stinging sensation throughout my head, neck, and mouth. I've only been using the drops the past 2 days.

I feel like I can't breathe and don't know what else to do. I tried taking Dayquil and that doesn't work.

Do you know what I have? Is it sinusitis? Do you recommend that I go to the doctor?

I have had my share of sinusitis. It seems familiar in what you relay in the symptoms. I have found a saline spray is good, that helps flush out congestion. It is not good to keep blowing the nose as that can just cause more build up. IF you can press lightly below the lower eyelids, if you feel pressure in the sinus and around the eyes it is likely a sinus infection. That is what the dr. has done when I have had that. There is pressure or pain there slightly if it's a full blown sinus infection.

IF you have had this a while go to a dr. though. You might need an antibiotic to get rid of that. If you see green or yellowish green discharge from the sinus instead of white or clear you will need an antibiotic as that is a sign of an infection there then. If no discharge noticed, try asking a pharmacist what they recommend to take to help this in what kind of nasal spray. It is weird feeling at first but it does help clear it out faster.

Bronchitis. Go see a hospital from the inside. Depth of breath reflects air volume. As the lungs fill with fluid , you begin to suffocate. It's caused by immune system over-response and edema in the lungs, not saliva or mucus.

you know if it was sinusitis you have this really nasty taste in your mouth. It is a sinus problem a pharmacists can recommend something for you.

Uh, yeah. If it is that bad, the doctor can give you something to clear the congestion without hurting you. And it may be more than just the flu. Better to be safe then sorry. Hope you feel better soon!!!
