How do I know if I have strep throat?!

Question: I started feeling weak on Sunday. That night, my temperature was 100 and my throat was a bit sore. Monday, my throat hurt a bit worse and my temperature rose to 101. Later that night, it went back donw below normal. Today, my throat doesn't hurt as bad, but its red. Very red. It hurts to swallow but not enough so that I cannot swallow, do you know what I mean?

Just a few minutes ago, I took my temp. and it was 102. But the funny thing is, earlier in the day, it was 100, and 101, and then back down to normal.

My temp. has been akward. It rises high and then goes back down. I really want to know what this is and I hope its just a virus because I DO NOT want to get that swab test.

Well getting that swab test is not always a bad thing. The only way that I know of is to look in the mirror or have somebody look at your throat and see if there is any little white bumps on your throat. If there is, that is most likely strep. But really your best bet would be to go to the doctor and let him do the swab test. Its not that bad. it will only hurt for a few seconds. Good Luck and hope you get to feeling better.

As your throat if it's strep. If it says yes, then you probably do.

Strep throat causes white patches on your throat, that you'll be able to see if you go look in the mirror at your throat.

The swab test is the only way you will know. Its not that bad it only takes like 2 seconds. They go in and go out and the whole appointment only takes like 5 minutes. It doesnt hurt even though your throat hurts. Trust me that is the only way to know.

it could be the flu too,you need to just go to the doctor.i had the flu last week.bad stuff

only a doctor can tell you if you have strep throat

are there white bumbs in the back of your mouth - if so then you probably do, but you should really see a doctor

heres a simple way to figure out how you have strep:
(dont ask how i know, i've had strep so many times my doctor just told me how to figure it out)

take a flashlight, go to a place with a mirror
shine the flash light and open your mouth wide saying "ahh" so you can see the back of your throat
there should be that...uh...dangly thing thats in the middle of your throat
on the sides of the...uh...dangly thing are two "walls" on the sides
if you see white things on those "walls" then you have strep.

i'm not sure if this method works 100% of the time, but it's worked for me.

hope this helps!

yes the swab tests suck BUT its the only way to check for strep!

Cry off sick for a week. Strepptococchus is a tiny, insidious little git of a virus that dies as long as you don't feed it.
So, lots of bed rest with your fave book, TV shows etc, lots of clear fluids, plain diet (steamed veggies, fresh fruit, fresh poached fish and low carbs) and ABSOLUTELY no dairy, redmeat or oil.
If your symptoms persist or should they become worse (like you develop a chesty cough) then it might be time for a macrolide, or penicillin based anti biotic.
Consult your Doctor IMMEDIATELY.
Get well soon, me auld shivering matey... remember, yer Captain loves ya, ye mewling pile o' puss.

You might have the flu
