Is a piercing for life?!

Question: I have a couple of questions about ear piercings that I just wanted cleared up. I asked a friend to pierce my ear lobe and I just wanted to know a couple of things before going ahead with it. Any advice would be appreciated.

1. How long does an ear lobe piercing take to heal?
2. Once the entire healing process is complete, will that piercing heal over?
3. What are the risks of getting my friend to do it rather than a proffesional.
4. On a scale of 1 - 10, how much will it hurt!?

Thanks alot,
Adam

1. How well you take care of it determines how long it will take it to heal. Should only take a couple of weeks, though.

2. I have three piercings in each lobe, but I have been wearing only one set of earrings for about 6 years now. The other holes have never completely closed up and actually get infected once in a while.

3. There are so many risks to having your friend do it. You have no idea what could go wrong. If you are going to do it, have a professional do it. Your friend probably doesn't have the right equipment, nor is it sterile. You have no idea the kinds of infections that could result in it. I had a friend who had her ears pierced this way (not by a professional), and the ear actually rejected the hole. It's hard to explain, but it slowly grew out until there was no hole, and there were alot of infections along the way.

4. If you have a professional do it, it will sting, but only for a few minutes, since the actual piercing process takes seconds. On a scale, I would say, 3-4. If you have your friend do it, 10 might not be a high enough scale. And it won't hurt only for the time that it takes to pierce it.

Overall, it's completely worth it to go to a professional.

1. 6-8 weeks. leave the same earring in and rotate it a few times per day
2. if you don't wear an earring for awhile scar tissue tends to develop
3. your friend should sterilize the needle/earring. if not, you could risk serious infection (your ear could get all pus filled and gross.)
4. about a 3

1. every ones different but normally 2months

2. yes it will heal over very easily Ive had my ears pierced for 5years and if I don't wear earring for a month then usually the back heals up

3. You have high chances of infection and trust me you don't wont that it really doesn't cost much to get it done professionally plus they could get them uneven.

4. every one is different I have seen people faint from getting their ears done others say it didn't hurt at all.

good luck

IT DOSENT HURT

No worries. just do it.
