Sick Line Dates - how do they work?!

Question: I am on sick leave from work following surgery - my current sick line runs out 16/03, was at GP today who wants me to have an additional 3 weeks, however this sick line is dated today - will it run concurrent to my original one? ie 3 weeks from 17/03?

No it means 3 weeks from the date on the certificate. Also if it does not have a return to work date, when it expires you will either need an extension, if he wants you stay off work any longer, or a final line which has the date he feels you are fit to return to work.

Dont think so if its dated today it will run out 3 weeks from today it has taken over from the last one
