Why my hands are getting numb?!

Question: I recently got a new job... and I sit on this chair for long time from the morning till evening... and I feel that i am not having exercise for the relaxation of body... but last 2 days 2 of my fingers of my left hand is numb... I felt feeling like this after my uncle died... yesterday morning... I am concerned is the numbness because of the stress sitting in my office for 9 hrs or due to psychological stress... If anyone have instructions on how to treat the numbness... i would appreciate that.

It is possible that this is stress related but there are other things that could cause things like this also. If it is stress related, it is probably due to muscle tension that builds up when you are stressed. If you know how to do "progressive relaxation" it should help. If not, try googling some techniques. My favorite is a guided meditation I found on iTunes called "Deep Relaxation Mind Retreat" from Relaxation Station.

It could also have to do with your posture. Try to make a conscious effort to check your posture through out the day and correct it if you notice you are slouching. Taking frequent breaks (every 15 minutes or so) to just stand up and stretch could help, too.

No matter what, if this gets really bothersome, consult with your doctor. It could be a pinched nerve or something else that could require medical care or physical therapy to get better. Hope this helped!

I think it's because you do same work every time and probably because of stress

Maybe, if you like take a break and play w/your hands, they won't get so numb(not w/you member ;) ), like rub them or crack your nuckles...it should work..hope it does!

Watch your elbows. When I sit with my elbows resting on the arms of chairs, my fingers sometimes go numb. I think I'm compressing nerves... Something to consider. :)

Its Carpal tunnel, take a five minute break every hour or so

Shake your hands once in a while.
Sit in a different position.
Get up and move around.
Stand up, bend over at the waist and let your head hang down, relaxing, like you are going to touch the floor...for a few minutes...it will stretch out your back and help relax you.

I could be a possibility of Carpal Tunnel (SP?) or even Diabetes but I don't think it's Diabetes, my dad had that happen when he had it. But I think it's a possibility of how you have you're hands/ arms resting on something. :) hope that helps any bit.
