I can't get it together? wtf?!

Question: I was diagosed with bipolar disorder several years ago. I was able to supress it fairly well. For the past few years I can't pull myself together. Not taking any meds, don't have insurance. What in the hell do I do? Seriously, wtf!

Well first of all I can tell you that you can't "supress" BPD. I am sure you meant that you were able to function w/o too much disruption to your life, however, you may not even realize how people around you were perceiving you.

My mom has BPD and I can tell you that if there is any mental disorder that needs meds ... it's this one. BPD isn't just depression ... it's much deeper than that. I know that it's hard when you don't have insurance, but I urge you to find some way possible to work a yearly dr.'s appt. and the meds into your budget. Your mental health is more important than anything. If you don't have your health what good does anything else do for you?

My mom refused to believe she had a problem and she would never take her meds. Even when all of us were telling her that she desperately needed them. She just didn't "get" how bad off she was. Now that she went years w/o proper treatment it has manifested itself into paranoid schizophrenia and her whole life has just deteriorated to the point where she has nothing left anymore. If she had taken her meds and taken good care of herself she would most likely be a productive and much happier person now.

I urge you to find a way to get some help and deal with this before it gets worse ... and believe me if you're already feeling like this it's starting to worsen. Many cities have programs to help people in your situation with meds, counseling, etc ... it's worth looking into. I've lived with the personal nightmare of this my whole life and my mother is someone I don't even know anymore. Take care of yourself ... you are the only one who can. Life is SO worth living if you if you can help yourself to be healthy and happy.

I wish you the best ...

Try to find a job with medical insurance..

Try God, He can get rid of that for you, you need to start depending on Him and He shall give you rest.

Try doing some research and see if the county you live in offers health insurance for low income residents. In Florida, some of our counties offer insurance and co-pays on prescriptions are only $1 and visits to the local health department are free if they approve you. Hope this helps. I know how it feels, my husband and I are both bi-polar. I manage mine without meds, but he is on 4 different meds for everything that he has been diagnosed with. Good luck :)

Try your local health department. Maybe they can help.
Call and make an appointment with them, just like you would at a drs office. I believe they base cost on your income....
if they cant help then maybe they can at least tell you where to seek help.

I wish you the best, and hope you do get help soon.
