My dad has a swollen abdomen, with very little fluid in it, what is going on?!
Question: My dad's abdomen is very swollen & ultrasound's show there's not enough fluid to be drawn out. Everything he eats goes straight through him. He occasionally has bright red stools. He had a colonoscopy recent that showed no problems. What can be causing this?

bright red stools are typically from hemrhoids or bleeding from the rectum. If there is bleeding from higher in the digestive tract...it would have a black color.
A swollen abdomen could be gaseous bloating (food allergies or even internal infection), without fluid? This is a tough one..but a blood count should be taken to rule out infection or anemias.
A swollen abdomen could be from a large liver too I guess...does he take many meds, drink, etc.?
have you took him to the hospital? it sounds bad, you should be in the emergency room.
