Hepatitis A vaccine?!

Question: I know that 2 doses are required, 6 months apart, but what happens if you only get the first dose and miss the second. Will you still have some level of protection? If it has been 2 years since the first dose, do you have to get the first again followed by the second in 6 months?

Yes, you will have to get the 1st dose done again. My HepA vaccinations were not completed when I was younger and when I got tested for antibodies before I went travelling, I had no immunity to HepA. So I had my vaccination re-done.

if it is more than one year since the first shot, the entire series (both shots) is recommended. You do get a minimal level of protection from the first shot, but because of the nature of the vaccine, the second is required for life time protection.
