I have a fear of needles...!!!?!

Question: I'm so scared of them and tomorrow I have to get one for cervical cancer.
I'm not scared of the actual thing injecting me, but after when I get it done I feel very faintish and I nearly collapse. I'm so scared that tomorrow I'm going to faint. What can i do to stop myself from being so worked up?

i am freaked out about needles and i had to go to the doctor the other day and get a flu shot and blood takes and i was freaked out i usually get tears in my eyes when it comes to needles but i just didn't look at the needle and talked to my husband while it was happening and i did great not one tear to get rid of the jitters of it i cant think of anything i was nervous until they were through just breath and hopefully you don't pass out

I'm the same way. Just look away, it helps to have someone there to talk to you about anything and everything. Whatever you can do to keep your mind off it. Maybe treat yourself to something you really love afterwards so your mind will be on that and not feeling so faint. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a for sure way to not feel this way. Good luck!

some physicians will prescribe mild anti-anxiety medication prior to certain procedures. You may consider requesting one. I find it odd that you title it "I have a fear of needles" but also state "I'm not scared of the actual thing injecting me" though... :)

ask the doctor to prescribe some valium for you, for before your visit.
