Is it true that being stressed out a lot can make you sick ?!


Question: I guess i've been really stressed out lately because , I used to be a honor student and now I'm failing two classes and we've been having family problems . I've been getting sick a lot , like really bad headaches and and I don't get a lot of sleep anymore , and i get colds really easily . So my question is , is it true that being stressed out all the time can make you really sick ?

Hun, take some time out for yourself. I suggest taking a yoga or a pilates class 3+ times a week. If you take time for yourself and relax your mind you will be able to deal with eveything better and sleep better as a result! If you can't make it to the gym go on youtube.com and find a yoga or pilates workout you like and do it right in your bedroom! Also, I find relaxing music like nature sounds help me relax before bed at night. Don't watch tv before bed either... try to listen to calming music and stretch or do something such as meditation to relax your mind and unwind from the day.. If you lower the stress then you will sleep better and your immune system will work better so that you can fight off colds! Best of luck and take care of your body you only have one! :-)

Yes!.. stress can just about cause anything and sickness is definitly something that stress can do to your body... It is very important to de stress because if you dont you could end up having a stroke! stress is called hyperhension and can lead to stokes

a tough thing to try to learn at a young age is to let things go. just let go of them and try to focus on what is in front of you to do that you can do and don't spend energy worrying about things you can do nothing about. (that's tough at any age) but it is the only way i know of to not let life's challenges and stress eat me up.
you will be o.k. kid...the truth is you are already fundamentally o.k. you just may not feel it right now. find someone like a school councelor to talk to, a shared problem is a lighter problem.
