They are not nurses and most of them have no medical background at all. The job usually has on the job training at whatever facility you apply. However, if you do like that kind of work you might consider taking a Community College program for lab techs, you might have a better chance at getting the job or even in a hospital.

sounds like lab techs to me

there is no medical training involved. I am starting this position in the morning. You have a small class or training on chain of custody, proceedures, contact info, and company rules. Some of this will be universal companies have different rules to follow. If you know of a company that does these tests contact them. they often have openings as some people do not like the idea of going into a bath room to watch a person pee. You have to be able to swear in court that you can verify that sample was not tampered with. So you must watch them with pants down and washed hands and watch for movements with hands so that they do not place soap or other materials into the sample. After they pee in the cup they tighten lid on... you check the temp on the side and seal and fill out the paper work (chain of custody) this paper follows the sample at all times. So no medical training is needed however, a trained nurse might also do this if no one else is there. My company is Premier Drug Testing
