Why did Hamburger Helper give me acid reflux?!

Question: I usually eat healthier foods, but I had to work a lot this week, and bought Hamburger Helper to eat with veggie meat (I'm a vegetarian) and Tuna Helper to make it easier on myself. Well these last two days I have been suffering from acid reflux, and all I have been eating was Hamburger Helper. I know I will never eat it again. Why did this happen?

As someone who used to have acid reflux myself, let me just say that many things - particularly if they were high in fat and/or sodium - gave me a worse bout than some other things. Packaged meals like Hamburger Helper are high in BOTH.

Now, as I say, USED TO. Let me tell you what cured me; I can't say whether it will work for you or not, but I think that it's definitely worth a try. It was simple apple cider vinegar. I don't know why it has to APPLE CIDER vinegar, but it does. From the VERY FIRST DOSE, I got immediate relief of my symptoms. Within a week, I was taking only two tablespoons per day - one after breakfast in the morning, and one before bed. Within two weeks, I was down to one tablespoon per day. And within a month, I was cured. I still keep some to use on occasion, but that's only when I "slip up" and maybe overeat, or something like that. But it's not needed every day, and when I do need to use it, just one tablespoon does the trick.

I remember when I told my doctor about it. I had been taking Nexium every day for three years. Oh, it worked fine - as long as I was taking it. What had happened, though, is that I had run out of Nexium, and my doctor was on vacation and not available to write another prescription for me, so I walked into a GNC store, described my symptoms, walked out of there with a three dollar bottle of apple cider vinegar, and the rest is history.

So, when I saw my doctor for my annual checkup the next month, he asked me how the Nexium was working for me, and I told him the story. In a VERY sarcastic voice, he said, "Oh, I guess you're cured then." And that's the last I heard of it from him.

To make a long story short ... oh, too late for that? OK, to make a longER story shortER ...

Try apple cider vinegar. What have you got to lose?

Because your system isn't used to all the additives in the packaged food you're eating. Take some OTC antacid and like you said, never eat the stuff again.
