Does having a urine infection effect kidneys??!

Question: I had a urine infection a month ago that was treated (went to the hospital (mom was really worried lol) and they told me that it isn't too serious). I was given medication & went for a check-up & I was ok.

Well it's a month later, & I have no problem peeing.. but there's this after feeling (don't know how to explain)...

I'm not sure if it's actually my kidney, but my lower left back has been getting some SHARP pains that really do hurt. Whenever I get up & sit down & bend my body...
could be kidney be infected??

By the way, it's only been like this for today (except for the urine feeling).

Other extra facts to consider: I'm 16, & have been taking birth control pills for 2 months now because of period pains

Yes, you can get a kidney infection from a urinary infection. My newborn baby will spend the first year of his life on antibiotics because he has a reflux from his bladder that goes up the the tubes that connect to the kidneys. If he were to get a bladder or urinary infection, it could cause permanent kidney damage. I have seen 3 doctors already, one a urologist and they all say the same thing.

Yes it could

Yes, a urinary tract infection can spread to your kidneys. It's definitely worth seeing your doctor asap.
