Why does this happen when I sleep on my arm? ( More details...)?!

Question: When I wake up after I have been sleeping on my arm, my arm is all numb and floppy, it goes really heavy and I don't seem to have any control over it.

Is there something wrong with my arm?
Or is it normal when you sleep on it?
And, why does it do it? Does it swell up your arm or something?

Thank you!

I have always slept on my arm and occasionally I wake up with a dead arm. It's basically a more severe case of pins and needles as your head is quite a heavy thing. I think it just all depends on where your head has been resting on your arm whilst you've been asleep.
I always find it fun to wobble about your dead arm until it comes back to life :D

You've stopped the blood circulation and it goes numb. It's normal.

its cuz u sleepin on your arm cuts off the blood supply and makes it go numb, just shake it about a bit and the feeling will come bak

I don't know why it does it but it is normal if you have been sleeping on your arm.

your simply restricting the blood flow to your arm, without blood you can't do anything so when its been restricted you only have limited use of it and you lose feeling in it.

Yes it is normal. This is because your body weight has restricted the normal flow of blood to your hand and it causes the hand to tingle and be numb. Leave it for awhile, it will go away pretty quickly (after the pins and needles) =)

it's a good trick to numb it by leaning on it then letting it hang by your side freely, it honestly starts to float up by itself, freaky stuff you should try it

Its called a dead arm,its when u cut the blood circulation off(obviously not completely) & ur arm feels like its gone to sleep. As the blood flow returns so does the feeling.Perfecty normal & nothing to worry about.Dont go to sleep with ur head on ur arm if u dont want it to happen.

Hey
If this feeling goes away a short while after you get up then i'd say there's nothing to worry about as you are probably just lying on it and a similar effect such as 'pins and needles' is happening. If the feeling is different and it scares you then maybe you should get it checked. I'd try sleeping in a different position and seeing if that helps. Gd luck and don't worry! :) x

You're reducing the blood supply by how you're lying. I'd make an appointment to see the doc and see if he recommends taking any medication for it.

Hope this helps and have a nice day ;-)

normal, happens to me atlest twice a month, its what haapens when you cut off the blood supply by lyeing on the veings that supply the blood for too long. I hate it- its not a nice feeling!
