Beginning of soar throat?!

Question: Well yesterday I was out and I was ok but when I got home I felt my throat kidna dry and when I drank it hurt a little bit. Before I went to bed a took a pill with 500 mg of Vitamin C to help. Now this morning it kinda hurts a little bit more [not like a soar throat but close] and I have to to band practice in about 2 hours. What can I do to help soothe it by then? Thanks for those who answer.

I think that the best way to remedy it is to not sing at all. Your sore throat might be a potential laryngitis and if that is so, straining your throat more (such as singing and talking loud) will only inflame it.

If it is disturbing, consult your doctor. Sometimes even a high dosage of vitamin C won't work if your immune system is not strong enough to fight the bacteria in your throat. Sometimes the cause of sore throat can also be potential colds. I suggest finding the root of it before taking any medications. If you are sure that it could be laryngitis, then cough syrup might help (the one that is usually recommended by your doctor).

I know some band singers who drink mild cough syrup before practice or performing although I am NOT sure if this is a safe thing to do.

Some good remedies for sore throat are warm freshly squeezed lemon juice and honey. Apple cider is a great help too but in my experience, the sore does not disappear immediately.

Do you have any peppers on hand? Red Peppers, green peppers, a tiny amount of cayenne powder or chile pepper powder in water. These help to make a sore throat go away (for a while and maybe for good.)
