My toenails don't grow at all, is this common?!

Question: I can't remember ever having to clip them. I'm not worried I'm just wondering, is this common at all?

The big ones just grow outwards occasionally, so I just pull off the little bits.

The toenails on my little toes are tiny too, like only about a couple of mm's long.

Yeah actually it is. My toenails take forever to grow I spoke with a doctor about it its actually quite common.

They should put you in the circus. Freak.

Get more calcium

no...

You may have a fungal disease, it would be a good idea to get it checked out.

I hate cutting my toenails, you should be happy that you don't have to go through the daily chores like the rest of us have to.

I don't think this is common...maybe it means you don't get enough nutrients?

Sounds like you have a nail disorder. see the doctor as soon as you can.

ha ha ha ha ha! just be happy u dont have to cut them.

I wish my never grew, trimming nails is so annoying.

count your blessings
cutting my toenails is a pain in the @$$

OMG!! Thats actually really cool. I mean you dont need to cut them. See mine grow too toooooooooo fast!! But all you can do is see your doctor and ask. Are you in pain?? i WOULD EVEN CHECK WITH YOUR DOC BOUT YOUR DIET TOO

What I would suggest is making an appoinment with your local podiatrist(foot doctor). They can take a look and make sure everything is normal, also if your fingernails don't grow either, than there is a serious problem, but some people's nails just grow incredibly slow.

You need to go see a foot doctor
and they'll tell you

Toenails, like hair, grow to a certain length and then stop
This is why our eyebrows do not grow and cover our face, and why our body hair does not droop to the bottom of our body.
The exception is hair on your head.
The length is genetically predetermined, which simply means that whatever length your nails grow to is coded for in your DNA.
Does it cause you discomfort? If not, don't worry about it.

toenails are made of keratin(is that spelled right) the same as your hair. if your hair doesn't grow either u could have defficiency and u should see a doctor

ahahha the first guy had a funny answer.
Are your nails "wrinkly"? Do they curve inward? This happens from a lack of calcium. I think the growth also happens from it. Drink some milk.

lol...wierd. and no, mine grow...very slowly though, so i could imagine someone who's grow so slow that its like they nvr even grow.

maybe u dont have enough nutrients, try eating foods with vitamins, becuz toenails are supposed to grow very quickly, about 2-3 times or so faster than finger nails( at least that's what I've been told).

i don't think this is common, maybe you should go see the doctor

I'm not sure really but you are very lucky I need to cut mne at least once every two weeks. They grow fast and strong, sometime I forget to cut them and the little toes nail will break off at the root, and that hurts.

yours never do? you should see your docotor to check out why your toe nails dont grow

I am a nurse. No, this is not "normal" but more of a nutritional defecit. It's also not a cause for concern.

eww

Actually, you have been blessed by the Toenail Fairy! She comes in the middle of the night to chew off bits of your toenails as a favor! This way you won't have to waste 2 minutes trimming your toenails. The toenail fairy and the tooth fairy are sisters. The tooth fairy stops visiting people when they are about 8 to 10 years old. The Toenail Fairy follows up about 15 years later. It's a trade-off for the sisters and it seems to be a win-win situation for everyone involved.
