Tonsils out....with new technology...does it still hurt as bad?!
Question: I've had so many problems with strep throat and throat infections that I might get my tonsils out this summer...
I want to know if it still hurts as bad as I've heard.

Yes it matters how old you are and yes it is just as painful. I honestly would have opted for the "old" type surgery. The worst part of the new proceedure is that you get these nasty scabs that rott and fall off in your throat. I wouldn't recomend a tonsilectomy unless you get tonsilitus often. You can still get strep throat without tonsils, it is a different type of infection that infects a different part of your throat. I would have rathered stitches. I am on 3 and 1/2 weeks of recovery and I still am not eating easily. I feel like I'm choaking everytime I try to eat. The doc says I still have another week. Are you kidding me another week! I would rather go thru child birth than ever do this again.
I had my tonsils out last summer and I didn't feel a thing during the surgery since the put me to sleep haha, and I'm guessing they will do the same for you. After the surgery my throat hurt for a little but it really isn't that painful.
It will be sore, eat ice cream
