How easy is it to get a second opinion on the NHS?!

Question: just go to your gp and ask them to refer you to a different doctor.

Answers: just go to your gp and ask them to refer you to a different doctor.

very easy you just need to put your foot down and request a second opinion if they refuse make a complaint but don't go any where until you get what you want your entitled to it
all the best

I have done I just asked for a different consultant. Although I did change hospitals.

Our doctor is great. If I requested another opinion he would make an app. with a different specialist but of course the waiting time starts again so it can be a long winded process.

very easy///my doctor told me I was fat...I asked for a second opinion and he said ok your ugly as well....lol....

good doctors will suggest this anyway

Easy just ask.Its much easier at a hospital than at your local gp more dr on duty. They will try and talk you out of it especially nursers.Telling you how great the dr is kissing @rse.But when i asked for a 2nd opinion i was right miss diagnosed

It can be very difficult - both my grandfather and my brother had major difficulties in getting second opinions. Both were being treated for minor ailments. Both of them had serious illnesses. Both of them died because the doctors were wrong.
