I have the same problem right now. I find that trying not to talk too much helps the voice so I don't strain it too much. I also drink hot or cold tea with lemon juice. That really seems to help. I am also on a woman's multi-vitamin, but take those daily anyway. If my throat really hurts, then I drink hot honey and lemon tea. This soothes the throat and breaks up anything that is in the upper chest.

You probably have a sinus cold with a cough. This stuff is going around. Lots of fluids, rest, and TLC will do wonders. It will take a few days to get your voice back (I almost completely lost mine two days ago and still trying to get it back). IF you have bad sinus pain (under and or behind the eyes, in the cheeks, in the nose) then you may want to see a doctor about a sinus infection. This has to be treated with anti-biotics. Other than that, just some old fashioned TLC, rest, and lots of fluids will do the trick, in time.

pen and notepad

The only thing I would say to do is avoid speaking. Maybe carry around a notebook and pencil/marker/pen.
Try having some plain old chicken broth - it's a natural remedy for bacteria in the back of your throat basically. My doctor prescribed it when I was strep throat, so it might work for losing your voice as well?
Hope you get it back soon.

Stop talking.

Hot fruity drinks helps soothe the throat, keep talking to a minimum.
