Has anyone ever had a lower scope?!
Question: I am 22 years old and I am going to the hospital tomorrow for a lower bowel scope for the first time. It is my first time administering an enema to myself, or having one ever, and I am nervous about doing that, and I really don't know what to expect when I go. If they find anything during the procedure they might remove it. Can anyone give me any insight on the procedure and getting ready for it.

The prep for a colonoscopy usually involves a liquid diet for a day, followed by drinking a phosphate laxative. I don't see how an enema could possibly substitute for that.
The patient is nearly always put to sleep for the procedure. They start a simple IV and inject the anesthesia through that. You're out like a light, and wake up quickly with no after affects.
Good luck.
