Should my cartilage be swollen?!

Question: I just got my left cartilage pierced about four days ago. I got it pierced by a proffesional with sterile equipment (needle) at a tattoo place. I'm not too concerned about it, but could someone who has already gone through this tell me what I should be expecting?
Getting it pierced didn't hurt any more or less than I expected. The only thing that was different than I expected was that I could definitely handle the pain. I had previously heard from many people that it's the afterwards that really hurts. It was throbbing for a couple of hours directly after I got it done, but now it only hurts if I touch it too roughly, and rotating it is extremely painful. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine. I'm cleaning it twice a day (and rotating it), and not touching it a lot, but my cartilage is swollen to a few times bigger than my right cartilage, and it's red and very warm. This is normal, right?
And the piercer said it would get crusty, but it hasn't yet.

i have not had any piercings myself but i can tell you this...cartlidge can not swell...the first thing that i would say is that the redness and swelling are from your body trying to heal itself and is partly caused by white blodd cells trying to attack the metal object in you. if it does not begin to fell better and decrease in swelling soon you should go to the doctor as you probably have an infection and they will be able to treat it. untill you have developed enough scar tissue around the hole it is going to be sensitive and prone to infection so definately keep cleaning it and rotating it.
