Could an AM/PM clinic be a front for an illegal drug operation?!

Question: They are in from 7 am to 7 pm 7 days a week so a doctor is avalible pretty often; but they don't like to see patients.

I injured my groin muscle in a bicycle accident and they told me to go to the ER because they don't look at that injury. I also got a blistering sunburn and called (on a Saturday morning) to see if they could see me (I was thinking a cortisone shot or a lortab perscription might help.) Again I was told to go to the ER. I asked how on earth a sunburn was an emergency? They said my electrolyte levels should be checked.

Am I missing something? Aren't those places around so we can see a doc in a non emergency situation when our family md is not avalible? Like for poision ivy, insect bite, bicycle wreck, sunburn, etc?

I'm starting to wonder if they use the Clinic as a front for some kind of shady drug operation.

It seems they don'e want to get in "over their heads." These clinics limit themselves to minor, non-life-threatening emergencies, like a sore throat, or maybe a broken arm.
With your bike accident, you could have had internal bleeding, which they could not treat, and if you died, they would be responsible.
With your sunburn, they could not adequately treat electrolyte emergencies (or did not want the potential liability), and turned you away. Some blistering skin conditions are life threatening and need the ICU. They have to assume that patients are ignorant, and possibly lying, about their condition.
