Vaccines, is it true?!

Question: I am pregnant and will give birth to a baby boy in may, in God's willing.
I read over the news today, and I also heard it before hands, that they put mercury in common vaccines. Is it true? Are there sufficient amount of mercury in the vaccine to cause harm to one's child? What specific "vaccines" have mercury?
I have read a lot of books on pregnancy and I cannot tell how many times they tell you to stay away from fish that could have mercury in them. Why would I expose my child then to vaccines loaded with it? I heard that to be true with Flu vaccines, is there more to be aware?

Most vaccines no longer contain mercury. It was once used as a preservative, but they have moved on to other preservitives who's safety is established. My daughters doctor's office does not use any vaccine that contains mercury with the exception of the flu shot. Instead, we get the nasal spray which does not contain mercury. Ask the ped. if the vaccines your child is receiving contain thimersol (that's the name of the perservative). If they do, and you are concerned, then you can refuse. keep in mind that should you refuse vaccinations for your child, there is a chance that they will develop deadly diseases that could have been prevented. Polio, diptheria, perusssis, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatits B, tetanus, haemophelia influenzae B and meningococcus (two leading cause of bacterial meningitis)... all deadly diseases! All preventable! Your child will probably be fine without the flu vaccine, or the chicken pox vaccine... but I would still get them. My daughter has been vaccinated, I have been vaccinated, my brothers and sisters and step children, husband, friends... all vaccinated, and all fine... with no health problems related to mercury.
And... mercury is MUCH more harmful to a develping fetus than it is to a person who has already been born. It's dangerous to all people, but it's a teratogen. That means that it is known to cause birth defects, which is why they discourage pregnant women from eating fish containing high levels of it.
So, educate yourself. Read up on the diseases that vaccines can prevent and see if you are willing to risk your child contracting one.
Good luck with your pregnancy and congratulations! Keep reading and researching, but always weight the pros and cons of each situation or choice that you face! Don't just look at things from one person's perspective!

Yes, I think they may have some mercury. You may at least want to do what we did; wait until the baby is 6 months old before they get their first shot. A lot of hospitals give shots at birth anymore.
