Daughter suffering with severe headaches?!

Question: I hope some one can give me some advise! My daughter at age 8 had 2 seizures, dr. said it was due to mild epilepsy. She is now 16 and suffering from severe headaches and nausea/vomiting. Had a cat scan done, came out neg. Had blood work done, a little anemic. Dr.'s prescribed pain meds. she does not respond to any. She wakes up with a headache and goes to sleep with one. How accurate are Ct scans? What should I do? I sm scared and clueless!!! Thank You for any advise!

As a fifteen year old, I have been suffering too from severe and constant headaches/dizzyness/nausea since I was 7. Last year I had an MRI done and a CT scan, which both turned out negative. As well, I had my blood taken, and my levels were normal. Both my MRI and CT scan came out negative. I know that CT scans are not as accurate as MRI scans (or so I am told) so you may want to get your daughter in for an MRI. For my CT scan, they did not inject dye into my system (because of a history of allergic reactions to it in my family) so that might be one reason why the CT scan may have 'forgotten' certain areas of the brain. I was perscribed Amerge (Narapitan Hydroxide) for the migraines/headaches, but unfortunetly they can only be taken 3 times a week because of their strenghth, and do not help on my everyday headaches. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's condition because I know how horrible it can be. I would defenitly reccomend talking to your daughter's doctor about an everyday preventative medication, but, as with all other medications, they do come with side affects. Another suggestion would be to take her in for an eye test and hearing test, because they could be factors that contribute to her headaches. I wish you and your daughter all the best and hope you can find a solution!

have you seen just a general/family practice doctor or a specialist? i'd suggest taking her to a neurologist if you haven't already

could it be anything besides what caused her to have seizures? like are her wisdom teeth coming in or anything? i had severe headaches then. i'm not really sure. take her to another doctor. best of luck

yes check the wisdom teeth also mri of the neck spine bones any head injury could do neck damage to the spine and cause headache

if you feel the need check with another doc and check with a hynotherapist and a phycotherapist all to assist in knowing what it is as i had migrains at that age but now 30 odd yrs later they have grown to tension headaches , only i try to know when one comes along and try to remedy as best "i" can whatever you do goodluck
