Why do people think marijuana is so bad?!
Question: people think marijuana is bad because the government says it is bad. if people know the facts they wouldnt think so. after learning all this b.s. about it in health class i vowed to never do it in my whole life. I found out a friend did it and yelled at him worse then his mom. I was like everyone else until I saw the facts for myself. It is less dangerous then tobacco and alcohol and is basically a plant. Trust me, 6 months ago I would have thought it was terrible, but now here I am knowing the facts, and feeling great. By the way if you haven't told already, I do it, last week was my first time and I feel great and am planning on doing it again soon. :)

My highschools JSA recently debated this topic.
On one side its more chemically dangerous then cigaretts.
On another the checmical used in making them is not addictive, if you smoke a joint you wont become addicted to it.
the main thing is that they have more dangerous chemicals then cigaretts.

-Its basically a cigarette, in a highly concentrated form, which is lethal.
-It can kill you in 1 hit
-It has Thousands of chemicals inside of it, at least 50 of which are known to cause cancer in the mouth, lungs, heart, brain, and many more places.
Because it's still illegal (depending on where you live), and is a mood altering drug. Which is retarded because look at alcohol. I think booze is worse.
Drugs that go to the brain can have bad short term and long term effects and it is also considered a gateway drug

and one reefer has twice as many carcinogens (cancer causers) as one cigarette plus it doesnt have a filter

Well, in one sense it's only as bad as alcohol... but with that you can get addicted to it, it's illigal, and it effects your memory.. I know a girl who did it for a year, and she can't remember anything.. she tells me periodically that she wishes that she never did it.. then I know an older guy who did it, and he can't remember ANYTHING like where the salt is... or where he left his keys, after its out of his short term memory, it's gone. and it doesn't stay there long.... And they didn't smoke like a gram a day or anything.. it just effects you slowly.... THEN you can get lung cancer... THEN you can give the people you smoke around lung cancer.... it's just something to stay away from... its really really bad for your health

marijuana is a horrible thing to start.
It's gotten a lot of bad propaganda because the "war on drugs" brings lots of money to the police agencies arresting people for a victim-less crime. The black market caused by it being illegal also raises the price that the drug dealers charge.
They call it a gateway drug but its a gateway because it's on the wrong side of the fence. When people try it and find out that it isn't so bad and their government was lying to them, they try harder, more dangerous drugs because "if they lied about the first then they are probably lying about the rest". Alcohol is more dangerous to the body than marijuana but our government says that's okay (or at least legal).
I think they don't want people to try it because it helps people see through the B.S. our politicians and government try to foist on its citizens. Unfortunately because of it's de-motivating effects, pot smokers rarely do anything with this knowledge.
