Does my lover have a drinking problem?!

Question: So, I am with this quite wonderful guy. We have our ups and downs, but in general I'd say things are pretty good!
I'm 21 and he's 24.
For the past two months he's been going out every tuesday and friday. And it's not like when I go out with my friends (you know, a few drinks, a dance, banter etc..) - he'll start drinking with his mates in the early afternoon, then go to the pub and proceed to the club (usually the one I work at, but always the lower level which I'm never at) and keep drinking until around 7-8am the next day. Sometimes, they'll go on for days. This only happens if drugs are involved however.
Not so long ago, he was out 3-4 days in a row, not calling me or anything. He eventually came home, had been binge drinking the entire time as well as doing ecstasy, coke and lsd.
He smokes around 4 pot joints a day.. Would that indicate addiction?

I don't know..I come from an environment of hardcore clubbers. Is this not normal? Could he have an alcohol problem? Or drug prob?

This is absolutely not normal and very degenerative to his health and yours. You are considered to be addicted to drugs/alcohol when it begins to interfere with normal and everyday activities. Some people think that just because they can go Monday - Friday without a drink and then binge all weekend they don't have a problem because they stayed sober all that time. But, what would happen if they didn't get that weekend binge?

My father and two brothers were alocholics/addicts and if this behavior isn't stopped - it will eventually ruin your relationship and bring an early end to his life.

That is a problem for normal people. I imagine it is the norm for clubbers though...

Umm hell no this is not normal! It sounds like he needs rehab. If he is not willing to go then I would drop him like a bad habit because he is only going to get worse, believe me I know from personal experience that it doens't get any better without help.
Just wait until he is sober next time and try to talk to him.
