Sounds like it could be a chest infection, you could try over the counter chesty cough medicine (Benylin's my fave) and if that doesn't work go to the doc.
It's pollen season! I'm suffering too. Not much you can do beside take allergy meds and I hate to do that.
when it happens stip it out is better out then in and drink hot drinks ..... nothing milky
you could have a viral infection, a throat infection, a chest infection, there is lots of things it could be so get to your doctors. in the meantime get some cough medicine.
Do you smoke? I ask my self, or do you live in an industrial area? if it is no to both, it is difficult to know why you are bringing up so much phlegm, I think then your GP is your next port of call.
As well as the other suggestions, add a post nasal drip - murder to get rid of.
If it's white, go to the doctor.
If it's nasty yellow or green, go to the doctor yesterday.

If it lasts longer than a few days, have it checked out. I have a chronic coughing problem, and it makes me miserable. I'm seeing an allergist next week, but I really don't think it's an allergy, unless it's to dust. If that's it, I guess I'm stuck with it forever.
