Migraine due tomorrow or thursday...?!

Question: Ok, I am 17 now, and I have been suffering from migraines since I was 15. They weren't as bad when I was younger, but over the year they have progressed and become more severe. I am pretty sure mine is hormone related. (My Aunt suffered from them til she was 20, and my grandma had them for 35 years til they finally found out it was due to her hormone pills - she hasn't had one since they took her off the medication) I am not going to be able to get seen by a doctor til my stepdad gets insurance.. so if you suffer from them, what helps you? When I wake up in the morning, I can feel one coming on. I have some medicine I got refilled recently.. It's not strong really, it kinda numbs you and makes you really tired. I cannot afford to miss anymore days at school. The medicines I am prescribed with our (250 mg of Naproxen tablets - for the pain, 25 mg of Promethazine - for the nausea) Ever heard of those too? Than you so much for all your answers.

Take a warm wash rag and place it on your forehead while you are lying down in a nice dark room with your eyes closed. This should help.

JIC you didn't know, Migraines are due to the constriction of nerves in your brain, so anything cool or even cold showers can cause that to worses. Use warm everything when it comes to your head. :D

It helps me to avoid caffeine when I feel one coming on and to try to take whatever time I can to close my eyes and put a cool towel over my eyes.

Caffiene helps a little bit with mine. :) Actually, Excedrin Migraine has caffiene in it.

I used a medication called Frova that worked really well for me, but until you get some insurance.....anyway. The newer migraine medications not only help with the headache pain but help with the nausea also. When your dads insurance comes through, maybe you could try one of those. When I do not have access to my medication, I take 3 ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) 200 mg. each and 2 Extra Strength Excedrin. It usually knocks the headache out within the hour. I never had any luck with Naproxen for my migraines, but that was me.
